December to April is drier. Trade winds hold on the hill.
Hills above Deshaies. A rental car is the practical way
Couples · Nature Retreat
Artist cabins above the Caribbean, with a forest spa that uses spring water.
Why Terrae selected it
We stayed here in December 2025. Tendacayou sits in the hills above Deshaies: timber cabins, trade winds, and a spa that is actually in the forest, not a windowless room.
We chose it because the architecture is one-off. Each cabin is built and painted as a piece, open to the air. It is an early Caribbean ecolodge, still run as a small place rather than a resort brand.
How life feels here
Experiences on site
The stay
Cabins face the bay. Hammocks and terraces do most of the living. The spa uses spring-fed pools. Dinner at Le Poisson Rouge is coastal fish and Creole spice, candles, not a buffet.
Rooms are open to the outside. There is no television. That is the point of the stay, not a missing amenity.
Field reality
What to know
The cabins are open. No sealed air-conditioning. A rental car is the practical way to reach beaches and town. Confirm the current minimum stay with the lodge.
