Who we are

A small editorial collection, shaped by two people in the field.

The places that stay with us are the ones where the landscape is so present you lose the day.

Florian & Arminé, founders

Arminé leads visual direction, editing and curation. Florian leads research, publishing and journey planning. Every place carries both points of view.

Why we created Terrae

Travel had become easier to book and harder to feel.

After years of planning journeys through Travel Differently, we kept finding remarkable places hidden inside endless inventories. Photographs looked alike. Sustainability language was repeated without context. A five-star label said little about how a place actually felt.

Terrae is our answer: fewer places, more attention and enough honesty to say what we observed, what a property documented and what we still do not know.

Who Terrae is for

For travellers who would rather choose one place well.

  • Place first

You choose by landscape and atmosphere, not by amenity count.

  • Nature close

You want the living world to shape the day, not decorate it.

  • Truth included

You value the difficult road, quiet season or simple room when it changes the stay.

Terrae is not a directory of every sustainable hotel, and it is not a ranking of luxury.

Why these places

The landscape is not outside the hotel. It is the reason to be there.

We look for places rooted in their ground: stone restored rather than staged, food connected to nearby farms, forest or sea within the rhythm of the day, and hosts whose care feels personal.

Style alone is never enough. A place enters the Collection because its setting, choices and hospitality hold together.

How we choose

A selection is a responsibility.

  1. 01

    Observe

When we visit, we record the arrival, rooms, table, yoga deck, landscape and what changes after dark.

  2. 02

    Document

We check property material and public sources. Partner claims remain partner claims until independently verified.

  3. 03

    Publish

We state the level of evidence and include practical caveats. If the evidence is weak, the claim stays out.

A stay can be selected before we sleep there, but that distinction is stated. Inclusion cannot be bought. Paid Studio production never guarantees a place in the Collection.

Community

A conversation before it becomes a club.

Terrae is growing through the Journal, field notes and conversations with travellers and hosts. We are keeping that circle small enough to listen before deciding what it should become.
